kitchen outlet electrical question

Woody , Tuesday, 10th of August 2010 05:05:53 PM

Yesterday l noticed my dishwasher did not drain. Then l noticed that my

garbage disposal wo not work. They are pluged into different outlets. The

outlet that the switch for the garbage disposal is also attatched to is

not working. When we checked the breaker box nothing was blown so we

switched a few on and off just in case and nothing worked. The breaker

that we believed was the one that the outlets were on works fine. We can
not find the breaker and we switched all of them off and on and they still
are not working. What can this be? Also my oven is working but when l plug
in my deepfryer to the outlet that the oven is connected to l get an error
message on my digital oven. Do not know if that is connected. Any ideas why
my outlets wo not work?
Two outlets are in my kitchen the disposal one
and the one with the switch to the disposal and neither have the two
buttons. The other is actually right under my kitchen in my basement that
is the one with the dishwasher pluged into it and does not have the two
buttons either.
l FIXED IT!!! It was a triped circuit but you could
not tell cause it was in the right position just loose. HAHA i'm always
showing my husband up. Poor guy that is gotta suck.

Now go mark it on the breaker box directory so you know which

one it is next time.

They may be on a GFCI, which is one of the outlets with the

little buttons on them. You need to look around to see which outlet has

this and reset it. Sometimes it might even be outdoors!

Chances are, ur kitchen outlets are in series with a GFCI
Grape juice
recepticle somewhere. Check ur kitchen outlets & you should find one that

has two buttons in the center. There will be a test button, & a reset.

Push the reset button back in, & ur outlets will all work again. If the

GFCI outlet won't reset, you either have a faulty outlet, or there is no

power to it. No power to it means you have a tripped or faulty breaker in
ur main box.

The GFCI you are looking for could be anywhere. You might also check the
bathroom for it.
